Upper Limb Arterial Angioplasty – Case Study
A 45-year-old lady woke up with sudden severe pain in the left upper limb. The hand was cold, painful, and alarming symptoms suggested an acute vascular emergency.
Examination revealed a cold, pulseless limb indicating compromised arterial blood flow requiring immediate intervention.
Instead of performing surgical embolectomy, a minimally invasive catheter-based approach was selected to reduce trauma and recovery time.
Urokinase was injected directly into the clot located in the left axillary artery, dissolving the thrombus. A vascular stent was then deployed to restore and maintain arterial flow.
Full blood flow was restored to the distal vessels. The patient recovered rapidly and was discharged within 48 hours without stitches or surgical scars.
